We’re David and Anna Barningham, owners of the Timber Baron Inn in Bayfield, Wisconsin.
In 2017, we opened the doors to our newly built Bayfield home. As a couple of young newlyweds, we wanted to build a space where you could indulge in the outdoors.
A few years and 3 children later, we realized how important it is to have a place where couples can rest, reconnect with each other, and feel refreshed.
The Timber Baron Inn provides both: a quiet, cozy spot for couples and solo travelers alike to get away from it all and enjoy the activities nature has to offer.

A: All our rooms are on the main floor facing the lake. Each room has the same view of gorgeous sunrises over the lake in the morning and a valley of golden sunsets in the evening. It doesn’t matter which room you’re in, the view is spectacular.
Q: Do you have TV's in the rooms?
A: Our vision for the Timber Baron Inn is to be a forest get-away. An oasis from the busyness of life and base camp for your Apostle Islands adventures. For this reason, we don’t have TV's in your rooms. We have games available in the great room, a firepit and smore supplies, and we offer fiberoptic high speed Wifi. So, feel free to bring your own devices and cuddle up with your significant other and enjoy your favorite shows on your devices surrounded by the beauty of the Northwoods.
Q: Are you located in Bayfield?
A: We are located 3 miles south of Bayfield and are walking distance to Big Top Chautaqua and Mt. Ashwabay. We have groomed walking trails on our property and are directly connected to 14 miles of hiking and mountain biking trails. The perfect place to enjoy the beauty and fun of the Northwoods and just a short drive to Bayfield.
Q: Do you offer breakfast?
A: The Timber Baron in is no longer a traditional Bed and Breakfast but we do enjoy treating our guests. We are partnering with Ashland Baking Co. to provide mouthwatering pastries every morning with your coffee and tea. Just a little treat to start your day off right. Bayfield is just a 5-minute drive, or you can go to Washburn (12min) for some great breakfast options. Try our coffee shop, North Coast Coffee. Timber Baron Inn guests get a 10% off voucher!
